TEDx ISME Bangalore 2025 is set to explore the exciting idea “The Essence of Being Human: Exploring Intelligence, Consciousness, and Humanity” is a profound and multidimensional topic that delves into the core aspects of what it means to be human. It explores fundamental questions about the nature of our intelligence, the intricacies of consciousness, and the broader concept of humanity itself. These three interconnected idea—intelligence, consciousness, and humanity—are essential for understanding our identity, behaviour, and our place in the universe.

Human intelligence is more than the ability to compute or solve problems; it is a tapestry of creativity, intuition, and emotional depth. While machines powered by artificial intelligence can process vast amounts of data and outperform humans in certain tasks, they lack the wisdom that comes from experience and empathy. Intelligence is not simply about acquiring knowledge but about applying it in ways that are thoughtful, imaginative, and connected to the human spirit. This talk invites us to celebrate the unique aspects of human intelligence and consider how it complements, rather than competes with, artificial intelligence.

At the core of our humanity is consciousness—the enigmatic awareness that allows us to reflect, feel, and make meaning of our experiences. Despite advances in neuroscience, the origins and nature of consciousness remain one of the greatest mysteries of existence. It is consciousness that enables us to ask profound questions, to empathize with others, and to create art and philosophy. This talk explores the significance of consciousness in shaping our moral compass and fostering the creativity that distinguishes us as a species.

Humanity, however, is not defined solely by individual intelligence or consciousness but by the connections we form with one another. Through storytelling, shared experiences, and collective memory, we build communities that transcend time and space. These connections are the foundation of our resilience and the source of our greatest achievements. Yet, in an increasingly digital world, the importance of nurturing these bonds cannot be overstated. This talk underscores the enduring power of human connection and the need to balance technological advancements with empathy and collaboration.
